what is off?
OFF is a role-playing game developed in 2008 and published by Unproductive Fun Time. It has gained a cult following and has had several fan translations.It's known for it's creativity, strangeness, and the general sense of unease that escalates as you proceed deeper into the game. OFF is known as one of the most influential RPGs of the last 20 years and has left a lasting impact on all who come across it. An official release for Steam and the Nintendo Switch was announced for 2025.
Who is the Batter?
It's hard to describe or talk about the plot of OFF without giving much it away. This is The Batter.  He is on a mission to purify the world. And it's your job to assist him in his quest.The world is beset with specters that are disrupting the daily lives of the denizens in the different Zones. It is up to you and the Batter to clear out the specters, defeat the ones causing the specters to spawn, and purify the world.
What is OFF about?
OFF tells the story of the Batter and his mission to purify the world of specters.As you explore the Zones with the Batter and, eventually, his Addons, you will learn more about the world. How it works, the entities that reside there, and what the most important element is. Puzzles and combat will stand in your way. But your mission is sacred. Let nothing stand in your way.
2008 OFF
It is highly recommended that you go into the original game as blindly as possible. The less you know, the better. There are secrets within the game that can spoil you if you find out about them.The original OFF and it's original score by Alias Conrad Coldwood is available to play for free. If you don't feel like playing the original copy (and why wouldn't you?), you should definitely listen to the soundtrack. The score is fantastic and otherwordly, bringing that eerie undertone of the game to the surface. |
